Hamilton man wins $1 million on LOTTO 6/49

Hamilton has a new millionaire.

Marcin Nowak won $1 million from the LOTTO 6/49 draw on Feb. 25 from a ticket purchased at Big Bee Convenience and Food Mart on Upper Gage Ave. in Hamilton.

He picked up the print out of the winning numbers while out grocery shopping and went home to check his ticket.

“One by one, the numbers matched up,” Nowak said in a press release. “I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I really did not believe what I was seeing. The first thing I did was go over to my wife and share the good news.”

Nowak then visited two different stores to use their lottery checkers. The numbers matched up both times.

“I had to be sure,” said Nowak. “I used the ticket checker and each time I saw, ‘Big Winner- $1 million.’ I’ve barley slept since finding out I had a winning ticket. I need my sleep because I am a father of two young daughters who are busy and keep me going all day.”

The long time lottery player says he will use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and van. He also plans to take his family on a tropical vacation and buy a new SUV.

“I am so happy, grateful, and emotional too,” said Nowak. “This is more than I could have ever hoped for.”
