Hamilton man wanted in fatal shooting on Manitoulin Island

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have issued an arrest warrant for a Hamilton man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting.

Around 11:45 p.m. on June 24, the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police responded to an address on Wiingush Miikan for a weapons complaint.

An injured 32-year-old man was taken to hospital where he later died. Police identified the victim as Cheyenne Malcom Roy of Sheguiandah First Nation.

Following an investigation, officers issued an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Hanif Duncan of Hamilton.

Duncan is charged with second-degree murder. He is described as Black, between five-foot-eight and five-foot-10 with a slim build and long dreadlocks.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and there is no threat to public safety.

Police are asking the public to call 911 if they see Duncan.
