Hamilton man eligible for parole in 12 years

First Published:

A 37-year-old Hamilton man who says he killed his father to protect his family has been sentenced to life in prison.

Jonathan Robles will be eligible for parole after serving 12 years of his life sentence for second-degree murder.

Robles pleaded guilty to killing his father with a knife two years ago, November 2014, in an incident that was recorded.

Justice Alan Whitten acknowledged that the family, including Robles’ mother, feared the estranged patriarch after years of abuse.

The judge also noted Robles called 9-1-1, he admitted to the act and he didn’t flee the scene and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
