Hamilton man charged after loaded shotgun seized near convenience store

Hamilton police have charged a 57-year-old man after finding a loaded shotgun.

Officers responded to reports of a suspicious person with a handgun outside of a convenience store at 12 p.m. Monday in the area of Barton St. East and Melrose Ave. North.

Police arrested the man and seized the firearm, which was later determined to be a realistic looking replica handgun.

Drug paraphernalia, an axe in the man’s waistband and a loaded sawed-off shotgun were then discovered following his arrest.

Officers say Michele Marinilli has been charged with 10 separate offences, including possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.
