Hamilton fire crews battled two early morning blazes that happened in a span of 30 minutes on Wednesday.
Firefighters responded to an apartment fire on James St. North near Robert St. around 4 a.m.
Crews quickly knocked down the blaze and ventilated the building.
Officials say the residents were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.
The second blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. on the back porch of a home on East 26th St.
The fire quickly spread into the home. A woman and her elderly mother managed to make it out safely.
Two family cats are still unaccounted for in the fire.
Crews got the fire under control and are still on scene cleaning up debris.
The causes of the fires have yet to be determined.
