Hamilton doctor makes virtual home visits

First Published:

A doctor at a Downtown Hamilton clinic is making house calls again, just not in person.

He’s using technology to treat many of his patients who aren’t physically able to make it into his office. Rick Tytus from the Steelcity Medical Clinic makes house calls, virtual house calls. Two members of his team go to the patient’s home with a laptop computer, he can do an exam through the camera back in his office.

Doctor Tytus has been using this virtual care technology for a few years now, and sees more than 20 patients a month this way. He even holds a clinic on Saturdays in Caledonia, from behind his computer screen.
