Hamilton considered for legal marijuana grows

First Published:

Hamilton could become home to some large scale legal marijuana growing facilities.

Producers have expressed interest in properties around the east end of Hamilton, and in Flamborough. It includes a 5,000 square foot building on Stapleton Ave near Burlington St. The president of Alchemy Medical Marijuana says he’d like to open a facility, but still needs a federal licence and permission from the city.

Starting April 1st, the federal government’s medical access program will allow users to buy cannabis from a list of approved suppliers. So far, Health Canada has only issued eight licenses.
