Hamilton City Centre for sale

First Published:

One of the largest properties in Hamilton is now up for sale.

The Hamilton City Centre was built back in 1990 by Cadillac Fairview. It is situated right in downtown Hamilton and spans more than three-and-half acres of land.

The manager of urban renewal with the city of Hamilton says the structure itself is strong enough to build a tower on the site, but because of it’s size it would likely be home to several towers.

There isn’t a list price, but they are accepting offers. Right now the price of land in the downtown has sold for anywhere from $8 to $12 million.

“This is really exciting, this is probably the biggest property we’ve seen in downtown for years, so it is an opportunity to animate the streets even more, bring the vitality even more than we’ve seen. Downtown has changed so much but a site this big brings big changes to downtown to bring it to it’s full potential,” says Judy Lam, Manager Urban Renewal, City of Hamilton.

More than 400 staff are currently working out of the city centre. The city has been leasing space since city hall was redone back in 2010.
