A man who has worked as a childcare provider in Hamilton has been charged with the sexual assaults of two youths.

Michael Andress, 68, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexual interference, sexual assault, and invitation to sexual touching.

Police say the alleged sexual assaults began in 2007 and involved two girls who were known to him. They say the victims were under the age of 16 at the time.

Investigators say Andress has held volunteer positions involving youth in his church, Scouts Canada, various sports teams and has also been employed as a school crossing guard in Hamilton.
