Halton politicians say there’s no need to return to Phase 2

First Published:

Two Halton Members of Provincial Parliament, along with the Regional Chair and mayors of Oakville and Burlington are imploring the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to not return Halton to a modified Stage 2 in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. In a letter sent to Dr. David Williams this morning, the elected officials state that Halton’s outbreak numbers and health system capacity are nowhere near figures determined by the province to implement further restrictions. Halton MPPs Jane McKenna and Parm Gill signed the letter along with Regional Chair Gary Carr, Burlington mayor Marianne Meed Ward and Milton mayor Gord Krantz. But, Halton’s Medical Officer of Health is pushing to move the region back to a modified Phase 2 this coming week in line with Peel, Toronto, York and Ottawa. Its a position the local elected officials clearly disagree with.  Manesa Dhanabalan will have full details on the CHCH Evening News at Six.
