All Halton police officers now using electronic notes

First Published:

The Halton Regional Police Service say they have officially done away with paper-based note taking.

Officers can now record and upload audio statements and take photographs to add to the database using the Smart Squad app via smartphone.

The force says the new system, eNotes, offers much more functionality than before.

“Members of our community will notice our officers using their smartphones more, working hard to capture information in a faster, more accurate and effective way,” says Deputy Chief Roger Wilkie.  “eNotes is just one of the ways we are purposefully harnessing innovative technology to better serve our community.”

The HRPS has been operating eNotes on a limited scope since 2015. In fall 2021, the HRPS committed to adopting eNotes Service-wide.

More than 750 officers are now using the Smart Squad app.
