Halton police investigate attempted robbery outside Oakville mall

Halton Regional Police are looking for a man in connection with an attempted street robbery in Oakville.

Police say a woman was returning to her vehicle outside the Rio Centre Shopping Mall on Dundas St. W around 3 p.m. on Tuesday when a man with a knife came up to her and grabbed her purse.

Police say there was a struggle and the man fled the area in a black SUV.

The woman was able to get back her belongings. Police say she was not injured.

The suspect is described as a man with brown skin, about 5’7″ tall with an average build. He was wearing dark clothing and a surgical mask.

Police are asking anyone with witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage from the time is asked to call police at 905-825-4747 ext. 2216.
