Halton police charge 9 Quebec teens after multiple vehicle thefts

Halton police have arrested and charged nine teenagers after multiple vehicle thefts.

Officers began the investigation Wednesday into a group of people involved in reprogramming auto thefts.

Investigators identified a business in Mississauga where two stolen vehicles from Oakville were found. Police also arrested four suspects at the location.

Another group of suspects identified were also believed to be staying at a hotel in Burlington.

Officers executed a search warrant at the hotel where they arrested five more suspects.

Police also seized two stolen Lexus SUVs, two fake driver’s licences and 18 blank key fobs, among other things.

In order to protect the identity of the multiple youth offenders charged, police will not be identifying the adults also charged in this investigation.

All accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Halton police charged eight males and one female from Quebec between the ages of 16 and 19.
