The federal ethics watchdog has found former MP Helena Guergis broke conflict-of-interest rules.
Guergis violated two sections of the MP’s code, by asking a municipal politician in her riding to consider a project pitch by a local businessman.
At the time, her husband Rahim Jaffer was in talks with that same company about possible dealings in the future.
The ethics commissioner said Guergis knew that the men had met before, and should not have made the request.
