Guelph police investigate after bus driver slapped in the face

UPDATE

Guelph police are investigating after a bus driver was assaulted earlier this month.

Police say a passenger was travelling to the University of Guelph at 2:10 p.m. on March 13. They say the rider confronted the driver after becoming irritated that the bus was running behind schedule.

The passenger began filming the driver at which point he raised his hand in an attempt to block the camera.

Police say the passenger then pulled the driver’s hand away and slapped him in the face before exited the bus.

Officers were called to the scene but could not locate the rider.

Earlier this week, police released a photo of a woman they were hoping to speak with in regards to the assault.

On Friday, police confirmed they had identified the woman. No charges have been laid but police say the incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information that could help is asked to contact Cst. Jay Martin at 519-824-1212, ext. 7146.
