It was not the only upset of the weekend in CIS football. Only the defending Vanier Cup champion Montreal Carabins earned a return trip to the national semifinals.
In the RSEQ Dunsmore Cup, Montreal edged Laval 18-16; in the Canada West Hardy Cup at Calgary, the UBC Thunderbirds scored a 34-26 upset against the previously unbeaten Dinos; and in the AUS Loney Bowl, the St. Francis Xavier X-Men defeated Mount Allison 14-12.
The top-three ranked teams in the country are now out of contention for the Vanier Cup.
Next Saturday, fourth-ranked Montreal (8-2) visits No. 5 Guelph (9-1) in the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Mitchell Bowl at Alumni Stadium, while No. 6 UBC (8-2) face unranked StFX (7-3) in the Uteck Bowl.
