A teenage hockey player is facing criminal charges after he allegedly struck another player in the head with a stick during a game.
Niagara police were contacted back in December by a member of the public who reported an assault during a youth hockey game in the Town of Lincoln.
The alleged incident happened at the Fleming Memorial Arena during a hockey tournament on Dec. 10.
Police say a goalie intentionally struck another player in the head with their hockey stick.
The teen was ejected from the game and tournament.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy from Grimsby. He faces one count of assault with a weapon.
His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada.
The teen has been released from custody with a future court date.
