Green Party leader Elizabeth May is apologizing for her attempt at humour, her lack of respect for her fellow MP’s and her choice of language. May dropped the f-bomb Saturday night at the annual Parliament Hill press gallery dinner but that wasn’t all she said that has her saying sorry today.
Her failed attempt at humour triggered a firestorm of reaction and it also brought out her supporters. On Saturday Elizabeth May played the theme to Welcome back Kotter and then dropped the f-bomb.
This isn’t the first time May has come under fire for her comments. Last fall, referring to the Jian Ghomeshi investigation, May tweeted that “his private life is none of our beeswax.”
Shortly after that she put forward a bizarre petition in the House of Commons asking the government to support a 9/11 truther conspiracy theory.
Elizabeth May has now apologized for her comments at Saturday’s press gallery dinner. She said she wasn’t drunk at the time and instead blamed her poor judgement on sleep deprivation.
