Norfolk County OPP are reminding members of the public about what constitutes an emergency.

This after a 9-1-1 call was made Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a 30-year-old contacted them because their neighbours’ lawnmower had blown grass clippings onto their property.

Police say on average, it takes at least two officers approximately thirty minutes to respond, investigate and clear a call.

They say unnecessary calls put enormous pressure on OPP resources.

“Please do not call 9-1-1 about a power outage or to inquire about road conditions or if you have a sick racoon on your property or to order food,” said police in a news release.

“This is NOT an emergency.”

Residents are being asked to contact 1-888-310-1122 for all non-emergency calls for service.
