Give the gift of health with Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation

First Published:

This holiday season, donors to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation can give the best gift there is, the gift of health. Their marketing and communications officer, Aaron Lam joined us this morning to tell us more.

Nov. 30 is Giving Tuesday, which is a national day of giving in Canada. It is also the launch of Hamilton Health Science Foundation’s Gift of Health Holiday Giving Campaign.

“Every holiday season we ask the communities throughout the region to support Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation because we really do need donor support to help us raise money to purchase vital medical equipment and resources that the medical teams need,” said Lam.

Lam says the federal government pays for the “brick and mortar” things in a hospital, but equipment is not really supported by them. He says this is where the donor support comes in.

He says not only because of the pandemic, there is always a need for resources and equipment that needs to be updated.

“We call health the ‘greatest gift of all’,” said Lam. “The truth is, at one point or another, we’re all going to need healthcare services, whether it’s for an injury or for some sort of illness and if it’s not ourselves, it will be a loved one.”

He says giving the gift of health is something that benefits everyone. If you donate by Dec. 31, your donation will be doubled. Lam says this is thanks to a very generous group of donors who have committed to helping double the impact of the campaign.
