Getting through the chilly months in style

First Published:

With temperatures continuing to drop, fashions and lifestyle expert Natalie Sexton joins us with some wardrobe staples to help us through the chilly months and some holiday party ideas.

Lounge Wear

Sexton says WINNERS is a great place to find deals. She found a comfy two piece for the baby in the family for $15.00. She says two-piece sets that people can curl up on the couch in and also head out to visit family and friends in too is perfect.

She recommends choosing neutral colours for more wearability, because neutral tones all coordinate for a photo shoot and are a “fun option to the usual red and green onesies.”

All decorative pillows in Sexton’s photo shoot were under $30.00 and can be found at WINNERS as well.

Matching

When it comes to the perfect photo, Sexton says matching kids outfits will stand out.

She recommends playing with accessories like bows, purses and sparkly footwear to amp up the outfits.

Super soft long sleeve ruffle shirt dresses from H&M are sold at under $20.00.

“They’re actually made of sustainable fabrics,” said Sexton. “It’s called ECOVERO Viscose and it’s derived from renewable wood sources, so we’re definitely being environmentally conscious.”

Boots

Sexton says boots are essential as the chilly months start rolling in. She recommends Kamik boots.

“[Boots] are something you want to invest in,” said Sexton. “You want good quality and waterproof boots.”

She says for more than 120 years, Kamik has made sustainable footwear that keep your feet warm, dry and comfortable.

“I love that Kamik is family owned and operated in Canada,” said Sexton. “Their 2021 styled for the whole family are versatile and transitional footwear for those on the go.”

Dresses

Sexton says she is glad dresses are back in a big way, but she doesn’t want to sacrifice comfort.

“Why not pick up one really fun dress this season?” said Sexton. “Go for a sweater dress for casual occasions, you can mix and match with so many accessories.”

She recommends choosing a lighter weight knit in a streamlined shape that you can wear with everything from casual footwear to something more dressy.
