General Motors recalls SUV’s

First Published:

General Motors is re-calling nearly 69,000 vehicles worldwide, including 14,000 here in Canada, because they can roll away unexpectedly — even when the key isn’t in the ignition.

GM says the vehicles may have been built with faulty park lock cables or malformed steering column lock gears.

The recall affects certain 2013 models of the Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche and Express.

It also includes the GMC Sierra, Savana and Yukon, as well as the Cadillac Escalade.

The company says no crashes or injuries have been caused by the problem.

Dealers will replace the steering column free of charge.
