Gas plant report date released

First Published:

We now have a release date for the report into the real cost of cancelling the Oakville gas plant.

Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk will be putting it out next Tuesday afternoon. The Oakville plant was scrubbed after vocal opposition from the community, just before the 2010 municipal election. A year later, the Liberals shut down a Mississauga plant, also under construction, days before the 2011 provincial election. So far, taxpayers have been told the cost of cancelling the projects is half a billion dollars.
