Florida has banned alcohol consumption in bars after reporting a record 8,942 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a single day.
That’s almost double the previous record high set just two days ago.
More than 24,000 cases of the virus have been reported since Saturday.
State officials are attributing the surging numbers to young adults heading to newly re-opened bars and ignoring social distancing restrictions.
