An Alberta man is facing a number of charges after an Air Canada flight was diverted while en route from Toronto to New Delhi early this morning.

47 year old Jaskaran Sidhu is accused of attacking a flight attendant nearly four hours into his flight while flying high above the Atlantic ocean.

A passenger on the plane told the media that he became unruly and bit an attendants finger. Police have described his behaviour as belligerent.

Sidhu is facing two charges of mischief, assault causing bodily harm and endangering safety on an airplane.

It’s alleged Sidhu was irritated over the cancellation of his earlier flight. The plane was originally scheduled to take off early Tuesday but didn’t leave the airport until 8:57pm.

Another plane took off for India early this afternoon with the 200 and some passengers who had been on the diverted flight.
