Flare gun shot during fight in downtown Hamilton

Police are investigating after a flare gun was shot during a fight in central Hamilton.

Officers were called to the area of Market St. and Hess St. North around 10 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a “street disturbance.”

Police were told several males were fighting when a “popping sound” was heard. The group fled before police arrived on scene.

The area was taped off and police say they discovered evidence that a flare gun had been discharged.

No injuries were reported.

The Central Criminal Investigations Branch has taken over the investigation.

Hamilton police ask residents in the area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity.
