Five Hamilton teens charged after violent robbery: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged five Hamilton teenagers after an employee was assaulted during a violent robbery.

Police were called to a business on Main St. North in Hagersville around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Officers learned two people inside the business were seen trying to conceal bottles of liquor underneath their clothes. A witness confronted the pair, who then assaulted an employee while running out of the store.

Members of the Six Nations Police Service found the suspect’s vehicle near Fourth Line Rd. and Chiefswood Rd. in Ohsweken.

Police say two boys and a girl were arrested a short distance away after they were seen getting out of the vehicle.

Two more suspects who were later arrested by OPP.

“Further investigation determined the vehicle used by the suspects was a stolen vehicle,” said police in a news release.

A 16-year-old boy, 15-year-old girl, and 14-year-old boy were all charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Two other males, aged 17 and 18, were charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The youths are scheduled to appear in court in Cayuga at a later date.
