The fire marshal’s office is still investigating a massive fire in Brampton that killed a ten-year-old boy on Sunday.

Crews recovered the body of 10-year-old Nicholas Gabriel. He’d been sleeping over with a friend in the unit where the fire is believed to have stared. Everyone else in the house was able to escape safely.

There is no word on what caused the fire. The fire marshal’s office has finished examining the exterior of the buildings affected and is going inside the units today. Later this afternoon, they’re hoping to get inside the area where the fire started. The investigation is expected to continue tomorrow.

Also, Brampton Animal Services is asking residents whose pets are missing following the fire to contact them as they’re sheltering a number of animals that have yet to be claimed.
