Fatal crash leaves one dead

A man is dead after his pickup truck crashed and rolled into a creek near Jarvis in Haldimand County.

Police say the crash happened around 9:30 Sunday morning. A passerby noticed this black pickup truck submerged in the creek and called police.

Investigators have determined the truck had been travelling east on Concession 5 Walpole when it lost control and crashed.

Emergency crews were on the scene for hours in an attempt to save the driver who was pronounced dead in hospital.

The name of the man has not been released yet, police are still notifying next of kin.

The roadway was closed for about 4 hours.
