Fatal crash in St. Catharines

Niagara police are investigating the cause of a crash in St. Catharines that killed a motorcycle rider.

At about 10:30 Monday night, the motorcycle and a mini van crashed head-on on a curve on St. Paul Street near Highway 406.

A 25 year old St. Catharines man on the motorcycle was trapped under the van, and pronounced dead.

Police say the bike crossed into on-coming traffic.

The 47 year old driver of the van has been treated for shock.

Investigators are trying to figure out if speed was a factor.
