Fatal crash in Fort Erie claims border guard’s life

Updated A border guard is dead after a rollover on the QEW in Fort Erie.

Around 8:30 Tuesday morning, a Jeep and a pickup truck collided in the Toronto bound lanes just before the Ridgemount Road overpass. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch. The pickup truck rolled and the woman was ejected. Provincial Police say it appears she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt.

The victim has been identified as Michelle Beauchamp, 38, of Welland. She was a border guard at the Peace Bridge.

The other driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
