An elderly woman is dead following a police chase in Brantford Monday morning.

Brantford Police say they attempted to stop a car being driven by a 28-year-old man wanted in connection with an earlier stabbing.

The suspect fled from the police and collided with another car carrying two people at the intersection of Colborne St. and Gilkinson St. Both passengers in the vehicle that was struck suffered injuries. One of the passengers, a 94-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where she later died. The man was arrested and is now facing several charges.

The S.I.U. is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
