Etobicoke man arrested in human trafficking investigation

First Published:

A man has been arrested in a human trafficking investigation.

Halton police say the investigation was initiated in June 2022 and as a result, investigators arrested and charged 29-year-old Andre Davis from Etobicoke.

On Aug. 18, a search warrant was executed at a unit in a large apartment complex in Etobicoke which Davis, also known as “Dre” or “Dre Stax,” was bound by court orders to reside at. However, police say Davis was not located. Soon after, Toronto police were alerted to a man running from the area, but was eventually arrested.

A secondary apartment connected to Davis was identified during the incident. This apartment was later searched by Halton police. Police say evidence was secured that will assist in furthering the human trafficking investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Davis has now been charged with the multiple offences including trafficking in persons, material benefit from trafficking in persons and advertising sexual services among others.

Police say they believe there are additional victims in regards to this investigation and are asking anyone who has come into contact with Davis or has information to contact police.
