Elderly woman dead after hit and run in Niagara Falls

Niagara police are investigating a hit and run after a woman in her 70s was struck and killed in Chippawa.

The suspect has not yet been located.

The incident happened July 2 at the intersection of Welland St. and Willoughby Dr.

Initial investigations show the victim was crossing the road when she was hit by a pickup truck. The driver then fled the area.

Police say bystanders, paramedics, and firefighters tried to revive her at the scene. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police seized a vehicle they believe belongs to the suspect in Niagara Falls on July 3.
