Thousands of students are set to begin online learning Monday, as school closures continue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been three weeks since schools shut down in an effort to promote physical distance and stop the spread of the virus.
Teachers will lead the effort with both live and pre-recorded lessons.
School boards have been working to ensure all households have devices and internet connections so every student can take part.
The Ministry of Education has said that e-learning cannot fully replace the in-class experience, so the goal is to help students continue their education as much as possible during the pandemic.
President of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association Cathy Abraham said every board in the province has been creating a local plan to address the needs of students who may not have access to the internet, computers or tablets, or whose parents may not have time to supervise their schooling.
Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement Monday at 1 p.m. alongside Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance.
Lecce is asking parents to particularly help younger students through the transition.
