Dunnville resident charged with impaired driving in fatal crash

A Dunnville resident is facing drunk driving charges after a woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to a collision on Haldimand Rd. 17 and Jarden Rd. shortly after 10 p.m.

Police were told two pickup trucks had collided and a driver was unresponsive and trapped inside their vehicle.

First responders arrived on scene and found a woman inside one of the trucks. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the other driver was arrested after officers detected “signs of impairment” while speaking with them.

The 60-year-old was charged with impaired driving causing death and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The identity of the woman is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Cayuga court at a later date.
