Duchess of Sussex to publish children’s book this summer

First Published:

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will publish her first children’s book this summer.

“The Bench” is inspired by Meghan’s husband Prince Harry and their son Archie.

It’s about the bond between a father and son as seen through a mother’s eyes.

The book is illustrated by award-winning illustrator Christian Robinson and Meghan will narrate the audiobook edition.

Meghan says it started as a poem she wrote for Harry on Father’s Day after Archie was born.

“That poem became this story.”

The book features a diverse group of fathers and sons and moments they share, according to a statement announcing the release.

“Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life;
this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens,” said Meghan in a statement.

Random House Children’s Books says “The Bench” will be released on June 8.
