Hamilton police say a 60-year-old man has been killed in an early morning collision in Stoney Creek.

Emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Green Rd. and South Service Rd. around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

A dark coloured 2016 Nissan sedan was travelling eastbound on the South Service Rd. towards Green Rd. when it struck a grey Fiat vehicle from behind.

“This collision caused the lone 60-year-old Hamilton male to be ejected from the Fiat vehicle causing fatal injuries,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

Police say the driver of the sedan, a 32-year-old Hamilton man, sustained minor injuries.

The area was closed for several hours as the Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates. Northbound traffic on the QEW was also affected.

Anyone with information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact 905-546-4753 or 905-546-4755.
