Dr. David Williams retires as chief medical officer of health

First Published:

Friday is the last day on the job for Ontario’s top doctor.

David Williams is retiring from his post as chief medical officer of health.

Williams has drawn criticism for his handling of the pandemic, including from the province’s auditor general, who said he failed to exercise his powers to keep Ontarians safe.

Williams will be replaced by Dr. Kieran Moore, who’s been training with his predecessor for several weeks now.

On Thursday, Moore joined Williams for the regular provincial COVID-19 update.
