Double shooting near Billy Bishop Airport

First Published:

Two men believed to be in their twenties have serious injuries following a shooting not far from the new pedestrian tunnel to Billy Bishop Airport on the Toronto Islands.

Police were called to Desmond Tutu Blvd in the Queens Quay area north of the airport around midnight for several reports of gunshots.

Upon hearing that several people had scattered after the shooting they blocked off the entire area while the Emergency Task Force and canine units searched a park south of Queens Quay for the shooter.

Unconfirmed reports say both of the men were shot in the back. Access to the airport was temporarily blocked but re-opened before morning flights began.
