It looked like the scene from an real accident on a field near St Catharines today.
A team of search and rescue workers were there to brush up on their skills. The volunteer unit included military personnel, pilots, and navigators. They created an actual accident scene, and performed a formal search and rescue complete with parachutes, heavy duty planes and equipment.
Training officer Terry Nord says it’s important for them to be prepared for possible emergency calls.
The ten person team is one of nine units under the Search and Rescue Association of Canada. They are tasked directly by the military, and perform several simulated search and rescue operations each year.
