A man who attacked a York University student in her off campus apartment three years ago has been convicted of first degree murder.

A jury delivered the verdict before 6pm. 23-year old Qian Liu had been chatting with a friend in China via webcam, when the friend saw a man force his way into Liu’s apartment and knock her down. The lawyer for 32-year old Brian Dickson argued he killed her accidentally while he was “sexually excited”. But the crown convinced the jury that Dickson forced himself on Liu, then killed her to cover up the crime.
