Detectives search for motive in fatal Oakville shooting

First Published:

Halton police have released the names of two men who were killed in a quadruple shooting at an Oakville business over the weekend.

Police say Afheed Rehmtulla, 43, and Kareem Wade, 34, were gunned down in the area of Iroquois Shore Rd. and Eighth Line around 3:10 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they located four victims including a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Police say the two other victims were also transported to hospital but they are expected to make a full recovery.

“On behalf of the Halton Regional Police Service, we extend our condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. Both families request their privacy during this difficult time,” said police.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting but say they believe it was targeted.

Police are asking anyone who may have dash cam, home or business surveillance video from the area of Iroquois Shore Rd. and Eighth Line between midnight and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday to contact police.

Investigators are also hoping to speak with the driver of a white sedan that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
