A powerful magnitude 6.6 earthquake jolted Greece and Turkey on Friday.

The quake was centred in the Aegean Sea, between the Turkish coast and the Greek island of Samos.

Officials say at least six people are dead and more than 120 are injured.

About 20 buildings have been destroyed in Turkey’s western Izmir province. The city of Izmir is the third largest in Turkey with about 4.5-million residents.

The quake was felt across the eastern Greek islands and even in the capital Athens.
