It was described by police as a violent crash that happened at around 9 o’clock last night.
A mini van carrying a 29 year old man and his three young children collided with a vehicle being driven by a 26 year old man and his passenger, a 26 year old woman.
The man and his children who were in the mini van luckily were not hurt, and were only taken to the hospital as a precaution. Police say it appears as though the driver of the vehicle may have driven past a stop sign on Burford Delhi Townline road at Brantford road, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
While the mini van remained on the roadway after the crash, the car rolled over several times into a corn field and the roof had to be cut off so that the pair could be rescued.
OPP constable Ed Sanchuk says thankfully everyone was wearing their seat belts. “All the kids were properly secured and I can’t say enough about seat belts, they will save your life”.
Those who live in the area say the news of the crash is not surprising, there have been other very serious collisions at the intersection.
“We have a neighbour down the road, his sister died. She was 18 years old, it was in the 70’s and there have been so many people here, little babies dying in the field. It’s just terrible. Something’s got to happen”
A memorial still stands at the intersection for a woman killed back in 2015 and a teddy bear, neighbours say it’s in honour of a baby who was also killed in a different crash.
Neighbours saying they will continue to push for a safer intersection.
