Mary Walsh has something to say about getting older. She’s going to be part of an online panel next week on ageism – and other isms – in the arts.
Many older men and women in America or Britain are still seen in television shows, but it seems in Canadian film they try to pretend there are no older women left to act. Mary wants to change that, because they don’t just go extinct after a certain age.
She is helping by writing parts for older women and will also take place in the final chapter of CSARN’s Maintaining Creativity 6 on November 1, 2021 with author and journalist Elizabeth Renzetti, influential videographer Richard Fung and award-winning poet Charles C. Smith. The purpose of the conference is for all of them to come together to educate and inspire the older community of artists in Canada.
