Collaros works on timing with receivers

Zach Collaros hasn’t played a game since July 4th but the Tiger-Cats are hoping that he can lead them to a much needed win over the Argos in the Labour Day classic, time and place to be announced. Collaros came off the 6-game injured list and now has two days of practice under his belt.

With fire alarms blaring throughout the stadium, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats proceeded with their second practice at Tim Hortons Field, as if it was nothing more than a cheering crowd.
Because our cameras were confined to one corner of the new field for ‘safety reasons’, it was tough to see through the crowd of black and white jerseys. But it appeared as though the Ticat receivers were gelling with with Zach Collaros, even though he hasn’t thrown to them in seven weeks.

Receiver Luke Tasker: “The first two days of practice, we can definitely see a difference in the deep ball and he’s throwing corner routes well this week. It’s been great having him back.”

Collaros and Bakari Grant connected only a handful of times this season, but Grant says the way Collaros is throwing now, they’ll have many more opportunities for success: “I think anytime as a player when you’re out, you have that fight and want to succeed. That’s competitiveness. He definitely has a spark now.”

Collaros will likely be missing two weapons from his offensive arsenal this week. Kent Austin says both Quincy McDuffie and Brandon Banks are doubtful. As a result, we might see Luke Tasker “multi-tasking”. Not only will he line-up at receiver, he might take some punt and kick returns too. Either way, he’s eager for improvement: “As an offence though, hopefully we can just see some better drives, especially early in the game.”
