Cockroach rage

A Brantford woman says she and several other tenants in her building have been driven out of their apartments because of a cockroach infestation. She says her landlord, the Brantford Housing Department isn’t working fast enough to get rid of the disease carrying bugs.

Sheri Thompson says she’s ready to throw away her furniture, is afraid to put on any of her clothes from her closets and has lost hundreds of dollars worth of food because of cockroaches. “I feel my rights have been grossly ignored. I feel it’s a health issue now and I feel Brant housing needs to step up to the plate instead of passing it on to the next person, the other person the other person…”

Brantford public health says cockroaches can spread disease if an infected cockroach walks on your food and then you eat it. Brantford housing says if anyone feels they’ve lost food or belongings because of the cockroach problem they can call for some assistance and the housing resource unit will help by a case by case basis.
