Cockburn’s donation a celebration at McMaster

Canadian music legend Bruce Cockburn has donated his archives to McMaster University.

The event was celebrated tonight with Mac-based band “Of Gentlemen and Cowards” playing one of Cockburn’s hits. They weren’t the only local musical talent on hand: Tom Wilson and Colin Linden also performed in front of the crowd.

Cockburn had the crowd laughing in his speech. But then he turned serious and spoke about what he called the centrepiece of the archives — his notebooks. The artist and activist says he’s carried one around every day since 1969.
