Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says a 13-year-old girl is recovering after she was pulled from a pool in Simcoe earlier this week.
Cst. Ed Sanchuk says the child was discovered by her parents at the bottom of the family’s swimming pool.
“Dad and mom jumped into action, pulled their 13-year-old daughter from the bottom of the pool and immediately commenced CPR,” said Sanchuk in a video posted on Twitter.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital by Norfolk County Paramedic Services.
Sanchuk says the girl is expected to make a full recovery. “It’s the best news I could have ever given anybody,” he said. “This young lady was saved by her parents and the medical staff that assisted her.”
OPP is reminding residents to be safe when enjoying the water this summer. “If you are swimming in the pool, in a lake, in a stream, wherever you are, make sure you always put your safety as a priority,” said Sanchuk. “Wear a PFD or a life jacket. Have a buddy system and let somebody know when you are going and when you plan on coming back.”
